What is Theatre Fest? The Illinois High School Theatre Festival is one of the largest theatre festivals of its kind in the country. Students and teachers from over 150 Illinois high schools will be participating, and over 4000 students, sponsors, educators, and theatre professionals will take part in this exciting three day celebration of the arts. When and Where is it? The 50th Annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival will be held January 8-10, 2026 at Illinois State University Bloomington/Normal, IL. Who is eligible to go? Any current sophomore, junior, or senior who is an active member of Backlight Theatre Company is eligible to attend. How much does it cost to go on the trip? The costs for Festival registration, two on-campus lunches, bus transportation, and lodging will be somewhere between $400-$550. The final payment will be due when we know how many students are planning to attend.
